Chris Schmuckal | Finance ManagerChris graduated from UCSB with a Bachelor’s of Science in Aquatic Biology in 2013. Chris came back to UCSB to study Economics and Politics of the Environment at the Bren School. He wants to use economics as a tool to show that environmental management often is in the public’s best interest. Chris spends his free time diving around the Channel Islands or reading his favorite book.

Gokce Sencan | Data ManagerAt the Bren School, Gokce specializes in Economics and Politics of the Environment with a focus in Strategic Environmental Communication. Gokce aims to become a policy analyst after graduation, specializing in international environmental security, such as food, water and energy issues. She wants to dedicate her expertise to those who are the most vulnerable to the political and economic problems that will arise from climate change.

Erica Slowik | Project ManagerErica is thrilled to be a MESM student at Bren, where she is specializing in Water Resources Management. Appropriately, she often spends her time between classes catching waves at Campus Point. Erica also cultivates her longstanding desire to create a water-secure world through her work at Nataij, a boutique consultancy firm that assists developing regions with adaptive capacity and natural resources management.

Alina Werth | Outreach CoordinatorSpecializing in Economics and Politics of the Environment at the Bren School, Alina continues to pursue her passion for creating pragmatic solutions to environmental problems. Recently, Alina has become especially interested in water resources management and worked with The Nature Conservancy as a Global Water Markets Analyst during the summer of 2017. She believes that solutions to environmental issues depend upon the effective communication between all impacted parties, which is why she is also pursuing a focus in Strategic Environmental Communication & Media.
